The Newark Public Library opened its doors 130 years ago, and the Newark Museum was founded
exactly 20 years later. The relationship between these two institutions has always been close, primarily because
the second director of the Library, John Cotton Dana, founded the Museum.

Promoting Books and Objects: Empowering Newarkers is an exhibit marking the milestone anniversaries of these two great Newark institutions.Join us for this opening reception.

Featured are speakers Timothy J. Crist (President, Board of Trustees, The Newark Public Library) and Ulysses Grant Dietz (Retired Chief Curator, Newark Museum).
