Copies of the 2016 edition of Newark’s Literary Lights are available at all Library locations. Originally published in 2002, on the occasion of the designation of the Newark Public Library as a New Jersey Literary Landmark by the New Jersey Center for the Book, this publication features short biographies of many of the most important writers associated with Newark. The original publication of Newark’s Literary Lights was edited by April L. Kane, and featured an introduction by Charles F. Cummings, Assistant Director for Special Collections, Newark Public Library, and Historian for the City of Newark. A revised edition, edited by Sandra L. West, was published in 2008. The 2016 edition, edited by Catharine Longendyck, is published to mark the 350th Anniversary of the founding of the City of Newark, New Jersey.
