Entitled to Art: A Selection of New Art Books

To highlight recent acquisitions in the nationally recognized circulating and reference collections of art books, curator Nadine Sergejeff of the Reference Division has organized the exhibit Entitled to Art: A Selection of New Art Books. On view in the second floor gallery from June 28 through September 4, the exhibit draws attention to the depth and breadth of the creative experience by showcasing our latest additions to the collection in the areas of fine arts, architecture, graphic arts, photography, sculpture, antiques and collectibles, and costume and fashion.

Though the exhibition showcases newer books, visitors can find information within our collections about everything from making art of all kinds to caring for art and finding auction prices to researching artists and art genres worldwide. Reference sets, such as the esteemed Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon; long runs of periodicals, such as ARTnews; monographs; and guides to fine arts and collectibles attract art lovers from New Jersey and beyond. Critical analyses, biographies, histories, exhibition catalogues, catalogues raisonnés, and other materials reflect cultural democracy, the idea that all people are entitled to enjoy art.
