Newark Public Library is constantly evaluating its mission and how it can best serve the city. Fulfilling our essential task of providing information must be augmented to ensure that our buildings and services also address unmet needs within the community.
Our goal is to provide a flexible, 21st century library space that can support the small businesses, entrepreneurs and artists who have always brought energy and economic sustainability to the City of Newark while also creating a revenue stream to keep the library fiscally healthy.
To achieve this, we are exploring the creation of a new, modern space on Broad Street in the Hahne & Company building. We believe an Innovation Hub @ Hahne & Co., to be located on the first floor across from Whole Foods, would enable us to create a targeted approach to providing needed community services. With an Innovation Hub @ Hahne & Co., we will make technology more accessible, provide tools to support innovation and entrepreneurship and offer a selection of current popular books for all ages.
We’d like your input on how you might use such a space. If you live in or spend time in the city, or even visit occasionally, we’d like to hear from you. Please take five minutes to respond to our questions.
