Do You Know Your Rights? Consumer Rights

Know Your Rights as a Consumer

Wednesday, November 15, 2017
6:30 – 8:00 pm
James Brown African American Room, 1st Floor

Sometimes life presents obstacles that can leave us in a financial bind. Unfortunately, predatory lenders take advantage of these periods of vulnerability. Learn how to protect yourself from loans that may seem innocent on the surface, but often leave borrowers in a vicious cycle of repayment and further borrowing. This presentation will examine state and federal efforts to curb these practices and inform you of your rights as a consumer to better preserve your financial well-being.

This seminar is part of the series Do You Know Your Rights?  For more information about the series, click here.

The phrase “knowledge is power” is certainly true when it comes to defending your rights.  Learn to protect yourself and your family.  The Rutgers Law School has partnered with the Newark Public Library to offer a series of free legal information sessions for the community during the months of October and November.
