Obtaining Copies of Photographs

Low resolution of photos on our ContentDM website can be downloaded via the “Download” button, however, please note that all images from The Newark Public Library collection are copyright © protected and may not be reproduced in any way without permission from The Newark Public Library. Commercial use of images is subject to service fees. We require that all images be credited to The Newark Public Library. Note that it is the patron’s responsibility to determine copyright of photos. Usage Fees

Patrons requesting copies or wanting to reproduce or publish photos must fill out the following forms:

All materials should be e-mailed to njreference@npl.org. Please include photo number or file name when requesting from the Islandora (digital.npl.org) website.

Once you submit the forms, the library will contact you about payment. Payment is accepted via credit/debit card or check. Checks should be made out to “The Newark Public Library”.

Scanning and Processing Fees

There is a $4.00 scanning/processing fee for each high resolution scan for non-profit or personal use.

There is an $8.00 scanning/processing fee for each high resolution scan for profit use.

There is a $3.00 fee for a CD or DVD. Otherwise, no fee is charged for e-mailed photos.

Usage Fees

There are no usage fees for private or non-profit use. Non-profits, please submit the fee schedule form and check “No Service Fee”.

Usage fees for profit range from $35.00 to $250.00 depending on use. Please see the Fee Schedule form (fees are for each photo).

In some cases, donations of a completed book or film will be accepted in lieu of a usage fee. Please contact njreference@npl.org to discuss this option.
