Amateur Cuatro Competition @ Main Library @ Main Library, 2nd Fl. Centennial Hall
Dec 16 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

The ten-stringed cuatro is the national instrument of Puerto Rico. It is a key element of jibaro music – the music of the rural farmer, the mountain people of the island.
The Puerto Rican Day Parade of Newark, NJ and the Newark Public Library present and Amateur Cuatro Competition @ Main Library.

“The cuatro holds a central place in Puerto Rico’s cultural iconography, like the bagpipe for the Scot or the harp for the Irish.” — William Cumpiano, Puerto Rican Cuatro Project.
