Black Perspectives [on Paper]
Selections from the Special Collections of the Newark Public Library

The exhibition includes art by African American artists on paper. The works are assembled from the Library’s Special Collections and include fine prints, artist’s books, portfolios, photographs, and art publications. The show will include a sampling of this impressive collection and will feature renowned artists such as Mel Edwards, Sam Gilliam, Jacob Lawrence, Al Loving, and Faith Ringgold. Additionally, several artists who work(ed) in Newark and New Jersey will also be recognized — Willie Cole, Victor Davson, Jerry Gant, Gladys Barker Grauer, Akintola Hanif, Ben Jones, James Edward Jones, Nefertiti, Nell Painter, and Bisa Washington.
